BC CDC numbers show Terrace with 71 cases taking the top spot for COVID in the Northwest for October 10 to 16


Terrace has swapped places with Smithers for this week when it comes to communities with an increase in their COVID new case count, with the Terrace region showing a jump to 71 cases this week, up significantly from the 54 cases listed last week.

Also finding  a bit of a spike is the Nisga'a region, which counted nine new cases this week up from one a week ago.

By comparison Smithers has seen a decline for the last seven days with this weeks numbers marked at 58, a reduced level from last weeks 73 cases.

Prince Rupert saw a slight drop for the week, with a count of 13 new cases as of October 16th, a decline of two from last week.

The full review across the region looks as follows:

Terrace -- 71 cases
Nechako -- 61 cases
Smithers -- 58 cases
Upper Skeena --  24 cases
Burns Lake -- 17 cases
Kitimat -- 16 cases
Prince Rupert -- 13 cases
Nisga'a Region --  9 cases
Snow Country-Stikine- Telegraph Creek -- 9 cases
Bella Coola Valley --
7 cases
Haida Gwaii -- 1 case
Central Coast -- 0 cases


Wednesday's provincial report lists  191 new cases for Northern Health,  with 864  Active cases.

There are currently 72 residents of the North hospitalized from COVID , with 20 listed as requiring Critical Care.
