Some building maintenance issues in Lax Kw'alaams has reduced some of the health Clinic services to those of emergency cases only, with the Band Council making note of the change earlier this week.

The facility is having some plumbing issues and as a result Health officials have put in place some temporary measures for residents to keep in mind.

Anyone with emergencies will need to call 3331 FIRST, please do not just show up. Entry into the clinic will be from the emergency entrance only. No entry will be allowed from the front or side doors of the clinic.

FNHA is in the community to assess the situation with the contractors that will be repairing the issues. Programs will be suspended temporarily for the necessary repairs.

Lax Kw'alaams Health officials note that the home care program and patient travel program continue to operate and that the Meals on Wheels program in the community is still in operation as well.

No timeline is notes as of yet as to when they anticipate things returning to normal for the clinic, you can find updates on the situation from the Lax Kw'alaams Facebook page.

Some background on what the Clinic offers residents can be reviewed here.
