Recreation Centre options to dwindle next week, with Pool Closure and Rec Centre unavailability

A few closures for the Recreation facilities of note for
next week in Prince Rupert

Next week will see some reduced access to recreation options at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre and Earl May Aquatic Centre.

The first of note is the annual shutdown for the Aquatic Centre, which goes into a 21 day maintenance period starting on August 22nd, with both the pool and Fitness Centre to be closed during that period.

Should all go well in the maintenance work, the Earl May Aquatic centre should reopen on September 11th.

Also on Monday, the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre complex will be closed for four hours with the Recreation Department conducting some staff training from 10 AM -2PM. Though the Department notes that the ongoing summer camp program will not be impacted by the closure.

The twin closures mark the latest service suspensions that have taken place through the summer, which has brought early closures, capacity limits and periods of time where facilities were not available to the public.

And while the summer programs are coming to an end, the fall season ahead will offer much in the way of opportunities, you can learn more about the city's recreation programs when they release their Fall online guide coming soon, the link to the recreation portal can be found here.

As well, as we noted in July, the annual Registration Night is coming up from 5-7PM on Tuesday, September 6th.

The event offering a one stop shopping experience for fall activities with a number of recreational, cultural and community groups on hand to explain their programs and accept registrations.
