The City is taking to pot hole repairs as time allows around the waterline issues of late |
They sit on the roadway, ready to snare a tire, or rattle a front end alignment and they have once again made for a topic of note for a Prince Rupert council member.
Potholes, the scourge of the streets that are currently making their presence known through the thaw cycle of late, made for a brief mention at Monday's Prince Rupert City Council session.
A question on the topic of a repair plan for them from Councillor Gurvinder Randhawa gained the following reply from Richard Pucci, the City's Director of Operations.
"We are constantly, continually doing pot hole repair. We have a roads crew that goes out, identifies them. We have also ones that come in with calls and when we can we kick up our asphalt recycler to do it ourselves.
Obviously all of the batch plants are closed for the year and won't be open probably until April.
But, I must say that all of our team members have been just really focused on the water breaks lately so we've probably seen some of tha. ... just getting a little bit neglected because all of our staff have been put on the concerns around the water.
But we will be back on it soon"
The topic even made for a short mention from the official Communications Office recap of Monday's Council session.
There does not appear to be a dedicated pothole hotline for residents to make use of, however if you contact the Operations Department at 250-624-6795 that may gain some attention to trouble areas.
The city workers have been out a bit this week tending to some challenges, and as they make progress on the to do list it will be good news for motorists, not so good for garage mechanics ...
The full discussion of the topic can be viewed from the City's Video Archive starting at the 45 minute mark.
