Saturday, January 28 from Noon to 2 PM

The annual celebration of all things Francophone and Francophile is fast approaching with the 13th Annual Sugar Shack set for Saturday, January 28th at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Auditorium from Noon until 2PM.

The Civic Centre event is the focal point of the annual celebration, with its sugary component and family fun. But those two hours make for just a bite into the full schedule of events planned as part of the end of January program.

Tickets/billets $20 per adult, $15 per child at Cook's and/or AFFNO office 250-627-1313 et/ou affno@citywest.ca

The AFFNO office is located at 716 Fraser Street.

L'Association des Francophones et Francophiles du Nord-Ouest, known as AFFNO organizes the annual event each year, and they have much to offer for this month.

The week of Sugar Shack will start on Tuesday January 24 with a Meet and Greet with Canadian Parents for French, that event to take place at the Wheelhouse, with the Time to still be announced.

Thursday, January 26 brings the Sugar Shack Kick-off Social  to take place at Cowpuccino's at 7PM

Tickets go for five dollars each and are available from the AFFNO office. Call them at 250-627-1313 for more information.

The Tom Rooney Playhouse is Friday's destination, with the January 27th events starting at 8 PM at the Third Avenue West playhouse. Tickets for the nights entertainment go for fifteen dollars and are available from AFFNO, Homework or at the door. The night's show is listed as PG entertainment.

Following the Saturday Sugar Shack at the Civic Centre, will come an Open Mic night at the Wheelhouse, Entry is free, but those in attendance must be 19 or over.

Sunday, Sugar Shack enthusiasts can take in an Art workshop at the Prince Rupert Library. The afternoon event starting at 1:30 PM features a Free Cedar Rose Workshop with Francess Jackson, space is limited so RSVP's to 250-627-1345 are required.

That event of January 29 will bring a wrap to the 2023 Sugar Shack for Prince Rupert.

With the growing amount of activities to host, AFFNO is always looking for volunteers to lend a hand, contact them at 250-627-1313 should you be able help them out.

If you find that the Prince Rupert Sugar Shack delivers a fund experience, you can hit the road with AFFNO in February and March.

Similar festivals are planned for Kitimat February 23 to 26, with Smithers making their plans to celebrate on March 4.
