Concept drawing of the proposed VOPAK Marine Terminal

Residents of the District of Port Edward will have a chance to learn more about what could be one of the next large industrial projects on the North Coast, with VOPAK Canada to take part in an information session next Wednesday.

The District which is hosting the event on January 25th, shared word of the upcoming session earlier this week, with the event scheduled for the Port Edward Community Centre starting at 6:30 PM

The evening will feature presentations related to the project and and Question and Answer period to follow

Refreshments will be served as part of the Information session.

The Bulk Fuels Terminal, which is to be built on Ridley Island received a Federal Environmental Determination ruling in November, a key step forward for the Bulk Fuels Marine Terminal.

However, as we outlined on Monday, the Metlakatla First Nation has made a filing in Federal Court for a hearing to seek a Federal Judicial Review of that approval.

The NCR forwarded an email to the VOPAK Canada offices, asking if a similar Project update is planned for the Prince Rupert area, upon receipt of a reply, we will update the story.

More background related to the VOPAK project can be reviewed here.
