Former PRPA President and CEO Don Krusel joins Board of Greater Victoria Harbour Authority

The visionary who transformed the moribund Fairview bulk goods dock into a key piece of Canadian transportation infrastructure is keeping his hand in all things nautical on Vancouver Island.

Don Krusel who led the Port in the repurposing of Fairview Terminal into a container terminal facility and delivered on some unprecedented growth for the PRPA has been named to the Board of Directors for the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority.

Krusel was named as an Independent Director on January 5th, one of three new appointments to the body for 2023, Board Directors serve a four year term.

Mr. Krusel was head of the PRPA during the challenging years of the late eighties and early nineties as the port's operations were faltering, rising to the Post of President and CEO in 1992, serving in the post until September of 2017.

The blueprints of growth that were developed during his time at the helm continue to move forward.

That as the Port continues to dominate when it comes to local employment and serves as the economic engine of the City, North Coast and for some areas of the Northwest as well.

As we noted in 2020, he took his knowledge of port development to Quebec City to assist with a bid for that city towards containerization, that project however did not move forward past the environmental review stage.

The Greater Victoria Harbour Authority operates Marinas, a Deep water Terminal and the key to the Victoria tourism sector the Ogden Point Cruise facility.
