Oncoming adverse weather has made for schedule change for Northern Expedition

With an adverse weather system bearing down on Hecate Strait for Tuesday, BC Ferries has decided to get ahead of the system by announcing some changes to their Prince Rupert - Haida Gwaii service for today and tomorrow.

The first change came this morning with an early departure from Skidegate of 6:30 AM, a shift from the original 10 AM departure.

As a result, the return trip from Prince Rupert to Haida Gwaii will  be loading shortly at the Fairview Terminal and now will depart this evening at 6PM  a. move forward from the original 10PM departure time.

The vessel returns to Prince Rupert from Skidegate at 5AM on Tuesday.

Environment Canada issues at STORM WARNING for Hecate Strait this morning, noting of Winds building to 50 knots from the Southeast on Tuesday morning, diminishing through the day.

Seas will build to 5 metres by Tuesday Morning.
