Blog Watching: Week ending January 1, 2017

Our best wishes for a very Happy and Prosperous New year to our readers, we interrupt the recovery period from New Year's Eve celebrations to take care of some quick housekeeping on the blog for the week.

As it is Sunday, we offer up our review of the week's top items from our articles of the last seven days.

While we consider how the New Year ahead may shake out over the next 365 days, here's what caught the attention of our readers in the final week of 2016.

Much like it has for much of the year, an item related to LNG development found a large audience this week, with an International financial publication noting that Petronas may be considering a significant shift in its approach to the Lelu Island LNG terminal project.

Other notes on the week featured a Boxing Day Fire in the downtown area which had Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue, the RCMP and BC Ambulance Service called to the West End Grocery on Monday.

Our look at a new program to introduce North Coast residents to some of the dining options in the community captured a large audience this week, as did our notes on today's Polar Bear Swim at Rushbrook Floats.

While our review of the five top items wraps up with the results of this weeks Blue Knuckle Derby hosted by the Lions Club.

However, the top story of the week found our attention once again on the LNG story for the North Coast.

A shift in shipping plans for Pacific NorthWest LNG -- A potential change when it comes to a Northwest LNG project, with a story out of Bloomberg Business that suggests that Petronas/Pacific NorthWest LNG while still planning to build their terminal on Lelu Island, may be looking at using a dock on Ridley Island for shipments off the North Coast.
