City Council Preview: Monday January 29, 2018

Prince Rupert City Council comes together tonight for their second
Council session for January.

Another light Agenda will greet the city's Mayor and Six Council members as they head into their second public meeting of the reduced schedule of seventeen listed for 2018.

It may make for another quick night for the City's elected officials with tonight's Regular Session of Prince Rupert City Council  featuring only three items of review listed on the Agenda for the meeting.

Other than some general housekeeping items, Council tonight will hear a report from the Director of Recreation who will outline the background to a proposed application for funding from the Northern Development Initiative Trust, with the City looking to seek a funding grant of $15,000 dollars to be put towards an improvement project at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre.

Council will also be asked to adopt a pair of Bylaw amendments, the first for the Cow Bay Marina Fees and Changes Bylaw, the second the Recreation Fees and Charges Bylaw.

Council discussed both of those bylaw amendments at their January 15th session.

The Regular Council session, which is open to the public, gets underway at 7PM

Tonight is also a Committee of the Whole Night, which offers the opportunity for interested citizens to appear at the public forum to ask questions, or provide their comments of issues of concern to them.

The Monday night council session will also provide a chance for the City Council members to deliver their first on the record comments following last Tuesday morning's tsunami warning. An event which in the days that followed made for a significant amount of discussion around town about how the City provides for its alerts to the public.

The Agenda for the Regular Council session can be accessed here.
