Ministry of Education numbers puts SD52 at 70% graduation completion rate among secondary schools in the province

The Provincial Review of graduation rates in Prince Rupert finds a 70 percent
completion rate for SD52 for 2016-17

When it comes to the completion of high school, students of School District 52 are in the middle of the pack provincially, with the Ministry of Education making note of a 73% completion rate for the Prince Rupert School District from their most recent numbers from 2016-17.

The report into secondary school completion was released earlier this month and from the data from School District 52 parents and guardians can gain a snapshot of how the District is doing as its students head towards their end of their secondary school experiences.

The completion rate is a six year study of the percentage of students who graduated with a Certificate of Graduation or Adult Graduation Diploma, within six years of the first time they were enrolled in Grade 8. The District level results are adjusted for student migration in and out of British Columbia.

The report for 2016-17 features three segments for review:  an overall Completion rate study, a comparison between the overall student population numbers and those who are aboriginal students, as well as a comparison of the overall numbers and those students with special needs.

Of the total number of graduates of 136 from 2016-17 the completion rate was listed at 70 percent, Aboriginal students had a 63% completion rate, while Special needs students at SD52 had a 70 percent completion rate.
