City of Prince Rupert greets 2020 with a trio of job opportunities


Now that City Hall is back to its regular routine, the Human Resources office preparing to field applications from three Job opportunities that make for the Help Wanted Board for the City in these early days of 2020.

Listed for your consideration for potential employment with the City were the following job opportunities, two of them areas where the city has been seeking help in for a number of months now.

Engineering Technologist -- Reporting to Operations Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties including, but not limited to the inspection of ongoing public infrastructure construction, assisting in contract administration, and the processing of permits. Duties also include maintaining and providing direction to a variety of developers, contractors, and suppliers with respect to project scope, procurement, and the maintenance of City standards and specification.

Two positions recently closed, one of which now has the City reviewing applications for the Lifeguard I or II position which had a deadline of January 14th.



As we noted last month, the City has commenced with a vigorous recruitment plan to try to alleviate

staff shortages at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre. The Lifeguard Instructor I or II, under the direction of the Aquatic Leaders, works independently, assumes responsibility and takes initiative to complete duties related to pool filtration, chemistry, lifeguarding, instructing, administration and special events. The incumbent maintains a positive, professional, customer service approach. Preference will be put into hiring a Lifeguard Instructor II.

Also closing this week were applications for a Clerk III for the City's Operations Department, which offered permanent full time work as part of the city's CUPE 105 work force.
