Outdoors enthusiasts in the Prince Rupert region will want to take in the opening moments of tonight's Prince Rupert City Council session, with a glimpse for some plans for 2020 set to be delivered by the Kaien Island Trail Enhancement and Recreation Society.
The Society is scheduled for the Committee of the Whole Session at 7PM, noted on the Agenda as set to provide a Community update for the council membership.
At the first Council session of the year of January 13th, the Council members offered their endorsement towards a request for a letter of support towards funding for a new trail renewal project that would see the Omineca Trail rebuilt.
That project would be taken on by way of a partnership for the Kaien Trails group and a number of other local organizations.
Tonight's presentation will also allow for a review of some of the past work of the Kaien Trails Society as well as an update on some of their previously announced Trail enhancement plans.
In 2017 the group outlined plans for a redevelopment of the McClymont Creek trail, though there have been few updates on that proposed development since the original presentation.
You can review the master plan that they introduced in March of 2017 here, the document provides a glimpse at some of the scope of the work that they would like to take on in the region
All of which is part of their ambitions to create an extensive trail network in the community.
The members of Kaien Trails are hoping for some of the city's local trail supporters to drop in for tonight's Council session to show their support for the range of initiatives for the future.
