Hydro crews take to work in downtown Prince Rupert

BC Hydro crews are working in downtown Prince Rupert today
as they provide for some service work in the core area, as a result power
is out for a large tract of the area from 4th Street to 10th street

Update: Power was restored to the area by 3:30 PM

A six block section of the downtown core is without power this afternoon as BC Hydro crews work on equipment servicing the downtown area.

The area bordered by 4th street to 10th Street and along 1st Avenue West and Second Avenue was powered down at 1:45 today to allow for the work, with a large number of Hydro trucks and personnel in the area of the Highliner Inn tasked to work on the service issues.

The same area was one of a number of parts of the city that were the subject of a 2 hour power loss on Sunday afternoon.

BC Hydro has flag personnel on duty in the intersection to direct traffic in the vicinity of the work.

Updates on the status of the work and when the power will return can be viewed from the BC Hydro website.
