A workshop to be held at the Highliner Inn tomorrow, will be looking for feedback from commercial fishermen on the North Coast on the theme of lost and abandoned fishing gear.

Hosted by the T Buck Suzuki Foundation and Archipelago the workshop is looking for the participation of local fishermen to gain some further background on what kind of gear is being lost and where and how often that situation takes place in Northern BC waters.

The Information session will run from 12:30 to 4:30 this Friday,  January 17th at the Highliner on First Avenue West.

All fishermen from all Commercial fisheries are being invited to attend the half day workshop, with the information collected to be used to help inform priorities for the Pacific coast during the upcoming Sustainable Fisheries Solutions and Retrieval Support Contribution Program.

That initiative is set to be launched next month to put in motion gear retrieval projects along the British Columbia coastline.
