BC Hydro responds to Transmission line failures on North Coast, affecting parts of Port Edward, Ridley Island Access Road and points south
Update: BC Hydro reports that hydro was restored to the affected areas by 1AM
The lights flickered in Prince Rupert and went out in some outlying areas shortly after 9:30 on Tuesday evening, with BC Hydro responding to a transmission circuit failure West of Highway 16 in the area north of the Wolf Creek Dam Access Road area, as well as for portions of Port Edward.
Hydro crews are not expected to arrive to attend to the situation until after midnight
At the same time a second power outage was reported for the Porcher Island, Oona River, Kitkatla region, as is the case with the Prince Rupert incident, crews are not expected to arrive in those areas until after the midnight hour.
