The end of January makes for some Bon Temps for the regions Francophone and Francophile community as Le Association des Francophones et Francophiles du Nord Ouest hope what will be the 10th edition of the Sugar Shack, a festival to celebrate all things French Canadian in the Northwest.
This years event, like those of the past decade will be focused on the Civic Centre events of Saturday February 1st, from Noon to 2 PM and the Sugar Shack Brunch.
The event features live music from Will Stroet, a range of tempting food selections, family fun and games, along with much, much more.
Tickets for the Sugar Shack can be purchased at the AFFNO office at 115 Third Street or at Cooks Jewellers on Third Avenue West. Prices are set at for $15 per adult, $10 per children ages 6-12 and $5 dollars for the youngsters from 3 - 5.
The Early Bird price is 2 adult tickets for $25
Once again the Grand Prize for the Sugar Shack event is a $1,000 travel voucher with VIA Rail

The Sugar Shack Showcase, however is not the only celebration for what will be a week long lead up to the Sugar Shack, with the trail to the Big Show of February 1st getting underway this week with a number of events.
Tomorrow night is movie night with the Francophone Film Night at the Cineplex Theatres, with the feature attraction the Canadian comedy Menteur tickets for the 7PM showing are 10 dollars.
Friday Night it's the Sugar Shack Kick Off Social at Cowpuccino's in Cow Bay, the event takes place from 7-9 PM with tickets going for three dollars.
Saturday, January 25th features the Open Mic at the Wheelhouse Brewery, the 18 years old Plus event gets underway at 8 PM there is no cover charge in place for the event.

Thursday, January 30th, the Lester Centre is the venue, as Bon Débarras bring their Northwest tour to Prince Rupert and showtime of 7:30 PM. Tickets for the evening of music are available at Cook's Jewellers at $10 per student, $15 for adults.

Friday, January 31st, comedy rules the night, as the Sugar Shack festival of events brings in Hook, Line and Snicker at the Tom Rooney Playhouse on Third Avenue West. Showtime is 8 PM with tickets going for $15 at the door.
