North Coast Health Improvement Society reaches goal for bed replacement initiative

It took less that four months for the team of volunteers at the North Coast Health Improvement Society to declare mission accomplished on their latest community health initiative; with Stefan Delloch outlining the details this morning to the success of their Bed Replacement program for local health care facilities.

Taking to the NCHIS Facebook page, Mr. Delloch outlined the Society's appreciation to all those who helped them raise the goal of 300,000 dollars towards the replacement of beds for the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital and Acropolis Manor.

The money will be used to purchase 60 new beds for use at the two facilities.

The fundraising program which launched at the end of January, captured the imagination of corporate, labour and regional residents alike.

As we outlined in February, the first participants aboard for the campaign was the ILWU and DP World with employees and workers kick starting the project with a 79,000 dollar donation.

In just fifteen weeks the community responded, with business, individual and other donations taking the fundraising program over the top.

You can learn more about the important work that the NCHIS does in the community through their Facebook page.
