Prince Rupert Recreation looks for a month of movement from residents in quest of 100K prize

The City of Prince Rupert Recreation Department is calling on residents to take up the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge next month, with June providing for thirty days to show the rest of Canada that the North Coast is an active place.

UP for grabs will be 100 thousand dollars to support the community, should Prince Rupert rise to the top of the list in activity, with individual prizes also available or those who help the city reach its goals.

The City outlined their call to activity through the Recreation Department Facebook page last week, with more details to come as we get closer to the June 1st start date.

To get a head start you can download the ParticipACTION app here.

Or Register for the month of activity through the ParticipACTION website.

The challenge is part of the celebrations surrounding the 50th year of the Get Fit initiative.

The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is a national physical activity initiative that encourages Canadians to get active in search of Canada's Most Active Community.

It is open to everyone and all minutes tracked on the app and website from June 1 – 30 count toward a community’s total score. After June 30, 50 finalist communities will be invited to submit an application explaining why they deserve to be Canada's Most Active Community.

At the conclusion of the challenge, one community will earn the top prize of $100,000 and title of being Canada’s most active

In addition to the national winner, there will also be prizing for the most active community in each province and territory.
