Transmission circuit failure the culprit as power interrupted in Prince Rupert area Monday afternoon

BC Hydro's Prince Rupert map was a swath of Red Monday,
An indication a major power outage shortly before 4 PM.

A late afternoon power failure may have delayed a few dinner plans, or moved residents on to a BBQ dinner as a transmission circuit failure knocked the city's power supply out for close to an hour.

The situation had been resolved shortly after 5 PM.

Two other Hydro notes made for a busy day for utility workers, with a still under investigation outage in the Haysvale area and an earlier traffic incident interrupting power on Hays Cove Avenue

Through their social media account BC Hydro estimated that 8,000 residents had been impacted by the incident.
