Prince Rupert paper looks to hire reporter, sales consultant

The destination is Third West for those who may wish to
join the staff at the local newspaper 

Aspiring journalists and sales representatives could find their career momentum move forward in Prince Rupert, with the local paper Northern View recently posting ads looking to add to their staffing levels at their Third Avenue East offices.

The job opportunities were published in the Help Wanted pages and  posted to the Northern View e edition  last week, with Todd  Hamilton, Group Publisher of Black Press noting of the expectations for his potential new employees.

The full time Journalist position  in Prince Rupert has been created as part of the Federal Government funded Local Journalism Initiative, a somewhat controversial program which has been used by a growing number of news services struggling in changing times for journalism.

The paper has made use of the initiative a few times in the past since it was introduced by the Trudeau Liberals in 2019, the program was recently renewed to make for a five year funding initiative.

The Prince Rupert position is listed as a contract opportunity with an end date of March 31, 2022, though it also notes that upon completion the successful applicant will be well positioned for consideration in Black Press Media newsrooms. 

The opportunity one which will also be supervised by an experienced managing editor.

The Multi Media Sales Consultant position will see the successful applicant work closely with clients to determine the best multimedia campaigns for their advertising needs.

The Help Wanted ad also comes with what seems to be the Black Press positioning statement for the publication; noting as to how the papers Group Publisher views its role in the community.

The Northern View is accepting applications and resumes at their Third Avenue offices,  but asks that no calls be made to inquire about the twin posts.

The deadline for the Multi Media sales position is July 30th, the Federal Journalism Initiative position will be available until filled.
