More for the recycling centre, less for the landfill with additional guidelines released today

Prince Rupert and area residents can bring a range of new
recyclable items to the Kaien Road facility with new guidelines
released today by the Province of BC

There will be fewer items heading towards the landfill site in the weeks and months ahead, with the Province of British Columbia adding to the list today, of a range of items that are now accepted as part of the Provincial recycling program.

With the focus of an announcement today put on the single use items that British Columbians may use on a daily basis

The new guidelines towards what items go where, were introduced by Aman Singh, Parliamentary Secretary for Environment 

"Our government is working to ensure that people in B.C. can help to keep their communities and the environment healthy. By expanding our nation-leading recycling system to include more products, we are keeping more plastic out of our waterways and landfills. 

People across the province can now recycle a wider array of single-use plastics and other materials in their blue bins and at recycling depots. This builds on the significant progress we’ve made through the CleanBC Plastics Action Plan.”

Prince Rupert has both a curbside recycling program in place, as well as to play host to the Regional Recycling Centre. That facility is located on Kaien Road in the city's Industrial park on the east side.
