Approaching Weather System brings Heads up from BC Ferries on Holiday travel between Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii

With a Hurricane Force Wind Warning in place for Hecate Strait for Saturday into Sunday, BC Ferries has issued an alert for travellers set to travel on the Northern Expedition on the Prince Rupert - Haida Gwaii sailings on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Service Notice issued last night notes of potential impact to the 10 AM departure from Skidegate  on Christmas Day and the 10 PM departure from Prince Rupert.

The bulk of the weather system is anticipated to arrive in Hecate Strait Saturday night into Sunday bringing  the hurricane fore winds and heavy seas, though it could still make for challenges for BC Ferries Christmas Day plans.
