Rampage claim Top Spot overall in CIHL with weekend win in Kitimat

The Prince Rupert Rampage have hold on the top spot in the CIHL as the league prepares for the Holiday break, that coming from a Friday night win in Kitimat where the Rhino's topped the Ice Demons 8-5.

The Rampage surrendered the first goal of the game with the Ice Demons Teddy Bear Toss off to the tossing at 1:57 of the opening frame; but for the rest of the first period it was all Prince Rupert with tour goals by the wrap of the twenty minutes.

Scoring for the visiting Rhinos was Judd Repole at the 2:09 mark with an assist from Hunter Johnson.

Just past the midway point of period one Hunter Johnson hit the back twine at 13:12, assisted by Repole and Greg Shepherd.

Just over a minute later Reid Lindsay scored the first of two goals on the night, with Kory Movold getting the assist at 14:40.

Lindsay would close out the period at 16:12 with another marker, the assist going to Drew Fudger.


Period Two brought some pushback from the home side Ice Demons with three unanswered goals until Judd Repole hit the score sheet again, his goal at 12:35 the only Rampage mark for the period with the assist going to Tyler Halliday.

Period Three saw the Ice Demons make it a 5-5 tie just under three minutes in, but that served. up the push for the Rampage to put the game away, with three goals in ten minutes.

Kory Movold scoring at 4:53 with the assist going to Jared Meers

Meers would score next   at 7:09 with assists for Tyler Ostrom and Reid Lindsay.

The final Rampage marker on the night belonged to Kory Movold again, Hunter Johnson with the helper at 15:13.

That made for an 8-5 final on the night.

Kieran Sharpe recorded the Win for the Rhinos with 30 saves on 35 shots on the night.

A tumultuous affair on the penalty listings with Prince Rupert assessed 30 minutes of penalty time on seven penalty calls, Kitimat 34 minutes on 9 infractions.

The Friday night scoring spree has helped put three Rampage players into the Top Ten, with playmaker Judd Repole just three points off the pace of the CIHL Scoring Leader Tanner Wort in Hazelton.


The league is now on hiatus until January, when CIHL action resumes in Terrace with the Rampage visiting the River Kings on Friday January 5th.

The Rhinos however will be squeezing some exhibition action into the schedule this weekend as they host the Ice Demons at the Jim for their giving back to community game.

This Friday night's showcase will see all proceeds from the game and dance to follow donated to the Rampage Fights Cancer campaign which then is given to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital
