Cannery Road Race Cancelled for 2015

With volunteers in short supply, this years
Cannery Road Race has been cancelled
One of the final running events of the 2015 season won't be taking place this year, with word that the Cannery Road Race, which travelled along the road to the North Pacific Cannery Historical Site has been cancelled.

The popular event, which attracted both the serious runners and families was cancelled owing to a shortage of volunteers, the short notice advising of the decision posted to the Rupert Runners website.

The cancellation did not come without warning, through the last month Rupert Runners officials had been seeking for more volunteers to come out and lend a hand, a call for assistance that started back in June.

The lack of success in that quest is perhaps an indication as to the fatigue that the regular group of those that put on the five main running events of the year have suffered.

In their advisory, the Rupert Runners noted that those who had registered for the event would be contacted regarding the decision.

The local running club will be at Cowpuccinos tonight from 7 to 9 PM to answer questions and advise as to how to get refunds.
