Hill Top Lodge for Seniors to go to Public Hearing on Monday

The proposed Hill Top Lodge for
Seniors is the subject of a Public Hearing
on Monday evening at City Council
One of two high profile Seniors living proposals in front of City Council will be front and centre next Monday, as a Public Hearing for the re-purposing of the old Neptune Inn Hotel as the Hill Top Lodge for Seniors will be reviewed.

The proposed development for the long since closed Chamberlain Avenue building was introduced to Council in January, with Macro outlining it's plan to create two floors of accessible single and double occupancy suites.

The target audience for the new housing project would be people 55 years or older who are looking for independent living with some services and amenities.

Monday evening's Public Hearing, will provide the public with the opportunity to comment on the Macro Properties development plan, the public hearing making for one of the final stages for Council consideration before they make a final decision on whether to allow Macro to move forward with their project.

The hearing will take place at 7 PM on Monday, prior to City Council's Regular Council Session.

Those that can't attend the public hearing but wish make a contribution to the process, can do so by delivering a written submission either by mail, or electronically to Mr. Rory Mandryk, the Corporate Administrator at City Hall.

Those with an interest in that process have until Noon on June 12th to submit their correspondence.

The process to return the old Neptune Inn to the city's housing stock has one
more step ahead, with Monday's Public Hearing providing the public
with their chance to share thoughts on the proposal

Regular readers of the blog have had the opportunity to follow along as the proposal worked its way through the city's approval process, with some past meetings providing Council members to offer up their thoughts on the overall concept and how it addresses their ongoing concerns related to affordable housing for seniors.

Some of those past notes can be found below:

May 12-- Most on City Council show enthusiasm for renovation plans for old Neptune Inn
March 27 -- April date set for Public Information session on Neptune Inn conversion proposal
January 11 -- Council moves forward with Neptune Inn plan for Seniors Housing
January 6 -- Details on proposed Seniors Housing project for Neptune site to be reviewed by Council

The Macro proposal for Chamberlain Avenue is one of two projects recently introduced for City Council, with a large development for Eighth Avenue East recently revealed by the Metlakatla Development Corporation.
