Prince Rupert Marine Rescue gains $38,500 from Gaming grant funding

The Province of British Columbia rolled out another round of funding from its Community Gaming Grant program with a number of Northwest and Haida Gwaii organizations finding success from their applications to the Public Safety and Environmental Sector funding program.

Selina Robinson, the Minister of Municipal Affairs an Housing made the announcement on Thursday highlighting the work of organizations that provide for Search and Rescue support in their communities or those groups which raise environmental awareness in the province.

“These programs have a powerful impact on people in our province, saving lives and protecting our precious natural environment,” ... “Our government supports organizations doing this vital work, including increasing the reach of search and rescue operations throughout British Columbia, and increasing environmental awareness and efforts to keep our shorelines and waterways clean.”

In Prince Rupert, the only grant awarded to this area for this funding period was delivered to the Prince Rupert Marine Rescue Society, which will receive $38,500 from the Public Safety funding program.

Terrace Search and Rescue Society -- $77,600
Skeena Volunteer Ski Patrol Society -- $7,000

Oona River Resources Association -- $18,500

Haida Gwaii
Laskeek Bay Conservation Society -- $13,000

The next application period for public safety and environment grant opportunities will take place from July 1 to August 31, ,2019.
