Mayor Brain hails Pembina's Prince Rupert expansion plans

Mayor Lee Brain has offered up the first official note of excitement at some developments out of Watson Island, with the Prince Rupert Mayor taking to his Facebook page on Thursday to offer some comments related to some news from the Pembina Pipeline organization, which has outlined it's plan to add on to its still be officially opened LPG Terminal.

As part of his review of the chronology of the former pulp mill site, the Mayor notes how much the site was costing the community per month prior to its redevelopment, while also highlighting the investment plans of Pembina both with the first phase of the LPG plant and that of the planned expansion.

However, not included as part of his overview of Thursday, was any indication as to what the value of the return on investment to the city was from that leasing arrangement.

Also lacking from City Council over the last few years has been any details on other financial notes that might be of interest related to the maintenance of the remainder of the industrial site now know as the Watson Intermodal Trade and Logistics Park and what kind of cost,  both previous to Pembina and still in place on the site that may still be dependent on the city's financial resources.

In his comments the Mayor also notes how the latest news makes for the continuation of his and City Council's apparent vision for the industrial site, while also paying tribute to the city staff for their dedication to the Watson Island file. 

It appears to be a bit of a reverse flow of information for the City though when it comes to making the community aware of the good news from Watson Island.

Rather than the City of Prince Rupert offering up the first note to the expansion plans, the Mayor appears to have discovered the welcome development from a story posted to the weekly paper's website on Thursday.

Though it also seems that the Fraser Street publication only came across the developments following a story first posted here on the North Coast Review on Wednesday morning.
