As Fairview expansion plans take shape, recruitment process gets underway for job opportunities


The prospects for employment opportunities with the Fairview Expansion project will be the subject of an Virtual Job Fair directed towards Lax Kw'alaams residents today, with the online program set to launch at 11:30 this morning.

What jobs may be available for members and how to apply for them will be the themes to be explored, with the details on how to access the event found from this advisory from the Lax Kw'alaams Band Council.

The information  session is being hosted by Kiewit a large North American based industrial project development firm.

The Fairview 2B expansion is expected to increase the throughput capacity on the Prince Rupert waterfront to 1.8 million TEU's and create a 40 percent increase in Container yard ground slots. 

As well it will bring a 21 percent increase to the intermodal yard and a new 4 lane Truck Gate to be located at the north end of of the new Ridley Island Connector Road.

It's anticipated that more job fairs related to the employment opportunities for the project will come through the spring.
