After more than a year of closed doors, Chances Prince Rupert reopens for business

With Phase Three of the British Columbia Restart Plan launching on Canada Day, one of Prince Rupert's  most popular entertainment destinations was finally allowed to Re-Open its Doors to the Public, with the sound of the slot machines once again resonating through the gaming floor at Chances Prince Rupert.

The First Avenue West facility closed its doors on March 16th, 2020 as Public Health Orders of the day shut down any large public gathering in the province, those restrictions came to an end earlier this week with Premier Horgan, members of his cabinet and Doctor Bonnie Henry providing the welcome news of a more relaxed summer ahead for British Columbians.

With the prospects of those measures telegraphed by the province back in May

As we noted at the time Chances had launched an employee recruitment program in early to be ready for when the official word was provided in June.

Yesterday the much anticipated re-opening arrived for management and staff and they welcomed their first guests back in the early evening, with the gaming floors returning to action at 5PM.

Earlier in the month the Don Cherry Lounge had reopened to customers, though still mindful of the then in place COVID restrictions.

While patrons of Chances will surely be happy to hear that their entertainment destination is back in business, there may also be some smiling faces to be found at Prince Rupert City Hall.

With the year long closure, the annual delivering of gaming revenue to the city has also seen a steep decline, with the City only receiving $126,434 from the Centre for 2020, a significant drop from the year before when Chances provide over half a million dollars in revenue for the City.
