Bus passengers for scheduled flights spared increase, but some changes on the way for Transportation to Digby Island Airport

City Council has approved some changes to the fees related to
the use of ground and marine transportation to the Airport

The City of Prince Rupert will be increasing some rates for transport to and from the Digby Island Airport, with Council having approved a new Schedule of Tariffs, Fees and Charges at Monday's City Council session.

However, there will be no need for those boarding the Airport bus from the downtown transit centre to Digby island to dig a bit deeper; with the rate for transpiration for scheduled flight service to remain at the 19 dollar mark per transit

Also unchanged will be the 400 dollar fee for monthly vehicle pass users.

CFO and Depyt City Manager Corrine Bomben
speaking to City Council on Monday evening

The City's Chief Financial Officer and Deputy City Manager, Corrine Bomben made that a key point of her presentation to Council Monday to introduce the new fee structure that is directed more to charter service both for regular service hours and for outside of regular service hours.

"The bylaw amendment before council provides clarity of the fee structure for charter services provided outside of regular hours.

Given the fee schedule remained unchained for ten years, staff have added fee increase of there percent for each of the next four years for all classes except aircraft passenger bus fares and monthly passes for passenger vehicles.

Those two classes remain unchanged to continue to encourage the use of the local airport for commercial air travel"

The full schedule fee changes can be reviewed below as well as accessed through the City's Agenda from the Monday Council Session on page 44.
