Blog Watching: Week ending March 12, 2023

Some big news from a 2021 homicide investigation into an incident at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital was relayed by the RCMP this week. 

That from a Friday announcement that charges have been laid in relation to an incident which saw one patient pass away from his injuries.

The annual observation of International  Women's Day provided for some large readership of our look at the progress and work still to be done towards gender equity in the region.

A walk along Third Avenue last week provided for some visuals of a city core not putting it's best face forward these days; a topic that was part of the conversation at Monday's City Council Session.

It being a City Council week, a few themes of civic note gained some attention as well, with a large volume of readers interested in our notes on the post mortem on our recent snow experience.

Also finding a good audience was our look at how Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach took the city's infrastructure issues directly to Federal Minister Dominic Leblanc during a recent question period exchange.

From the weeks review the most read of our items reflected the high interest in the latest note on hospital violence, which includes a 2021 death of a patient at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital

Skeena Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach raises Prince Rupert infrastructure woes in House of Commons -- Some advocacy for the City of Prince Rupert gained some attention in the House of Commons this week, that as MP Taylor Bachrach took the issue to Dominic LeBlanc the Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.  The Minister's response one that seemed a bit more optimistic for the City than a recent correspondence that they received on the theme of infrastructure.
