River Kings have the lead in the series, but Kangaroos have home ice advantage as CIHL championship round ends this weekend

Thanks to a thrilling 6-5 overtime win last Saturday at the Terrace Ice Arena, the Terrace River Kings are but one win away from claiming the CIHL tittle for 2022-23.

The only thing is they need that one win to come this weekend in what should be a pretty hostile environment in Quesnel.

The Kangaroos who were the best in the league this past season will not only be looking to avenge the loss last weekend, but with a home town crowd on their side they'll be looking to extend the Best of Three series to Sunday and a Game Three.

The Game sheet from last Saturday provides a nice glimpse into the nature of this series, both teams with strong offensive potential, neither afraid to take it to the physical side when needed.

Game one which saw the Kangaroos serving 36 minutes of penalty time on 14 infractions, compared to the 14 minutes on seven penalty calls for Terrace.

It's likely those totals will continue with everything on the line on Saturday, with the Quesnel fans urging their side on to push the series to Game 3.

The River Kings will be looking for continued success around the net from some familiar names for Rampage fans, with Ryan Roseboom, Colin Bell and Conner Onstein all having a strong playoff run this year.

While winning the title is the focus, the added incentive is to build some momentum for the Coy Cup, a competition where the two teams will renew their new rivalry in just a few weeks.

With both Terrace and Quesnel qualifying for the Senior Men's finale set for the last week of March.

The Kangaroos were automatic entrants as host for the tournament, the River Kings by way of their success in the post season.
