Take a tour of the new Wheelhouse location ... with the owners of the Brewing company

What's behind that tarp wall? Come take a look with the
owners and staff of the Wheelhouse Brewing Company.

The faithful congregation of the Wheelhouse Brewing Company gained a sneak peek at what will be their new temple of gathering come the spring (if all goes well).

As the owners of the Brewery provided for a short video to their social media stream that provided a glimpse at the ongoing renovation on the waterfront space that they will be leasing from the City of Prince Rupert.

The Trip to the waterfront with the Wheelhouse crew gained a thumbs up from Mayor Herb Pond through his own Social media stream.

The Wheelhouse will be the anchor tenant for the city leased Historic CN station, that part of a major renovation project for the waterfront property that has been ongoing for much of the last year or so.

The videos on social media makes for the first actual glimpse for the public as to how things are progressing, something that the landlord may want to follow up on with a more detailed overview.

The last mention of the work in motion at a public City Council session came in the fall of 2022.

October 4 -- City updates progress for CN Waterfront Heritage building renovations

The topic however, has not returned to City council since the start of the year, so some updating on the progress of the last five months may be due.

The Wheelhouse is currently in the midst of a license amendment application for their new digs on the waterfront. That process was noted by the city earlier this month on the city website, with an opportunity for comment from the public towards the request set to close on March 31st.

With the City set to discuss the topic as part of their April 11th council session, that could make for a timely moment for an update on the progress of the rebuild and if any further challenges or additional costs have come along towards it.

The original plan had been for a fall 2022 move in date, however delays put that on the shelf.

The Wheelhouse owners had suggested previously that they would be in place on the waterfront by the Spring, though the latest update notes of a summer time goal for sipping on the second level outdoor patio on the waterfront.

Some of the background on the city's renovation work can be reviewed through our archive page here.
