BC Ferries cancels Thursday sailing in anticipation of approaching weather system; revises schedule for Monday departure



Any travel to Haida Gwaii on BC Ferries will have to wait until Monday,
the Ferry Service cancelled Thursdays sailing owing to the anticipation
of severe weather on Hecate Strait


Travellers with plans to make the journey to Haida Gwaii on Thursday, will be playing the waiting game, with BC Ferries announcing the cancellation of tomorrow's 10 AM sailing of the Northern Expedition as they await the passing of what is anticipated to be adverse weather conditions in Hecate Strait.

With the cancellation of the Thursday sailing, BC Ferries will resume its service to Haida Gwaii on Sunday January 13th departing Prince Rupert at 10 PM

A make up sailing is scheduled for Monday January 14th, following the arrival of the Northern Expedition from Skidegate, it will return to Haida Gwaii at 10 PM on Monday evening.

The Marine Forecast for Hecate Strati calls for a Storm Warning for tonight and Thursday, with winds increasing to 50 knots by Thursday evening, waves will also increase to 6 metres as the main thrust of the system passes across the region.
