Closed section of Rushbrook Trail back in use following repairs

Back in service, the majority of the repairs to a segment of the
Rushbrook Trail are now complete with trail users allowed back to the
full length of the popular waterfront trail on the city's east side

After just over a month on the out of bounds listings, a segment of popular Rushbrook Trail which had been closed to the public has now been reopened, with Kaien Trails issuing the advisory over the weekend through their Facebook page.

The segment at the first bridge past Bob's on the Rocks had been closed since early December after a strong storm delivered a powerful punch to the trail leading a partial collapse of the trail.

With the Christmas holiday period making for a difficult schedule to get to work on the situation, it took until the New Year before the required work could take place to get the popular addition to the region's growing trail system back up and open.

In their post, Kaien Trails notes some of the work that took place, as well as to feature some photos of the area that had been closed and is now repaired, though they note there are still a few minor items to take care of.

The “hump” before the first bridge is much lower, giving every better access to the trail, and providing great views of the bridge and Rushbrook Marina. There are a couple minor items remaining and our contractor will be back on-site when the weather improves.

You can review their notes here, as well as explore some of their larger plans for further development of the trail system in the community.

Towards that goals, Kaien Trails will be hosting its Annual General Meeting later this winter with a March 6th date circled on the calendar.  The session will take place at the multi-purpose room at the Prince Rupert Library starting at 7PM.

The evening will offer up some further updates on Kaien Trails plans for the future as well as to offer an opportunity for members of the community to join in on the projects and to offer their ideas.
