Winter Storm warning in effect for North Coast Inland areas

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the
Terrace, Kitimat, Stewart region today

Motorists in the region with plans to travel inland along Highway 16 and the other routes of the region will want to keep one eye on the Environment Canada forecast and the other on the Drive BC listings.

The need for some heightened awareness comes with the arrival of a strong pacific frontal system on the coastal areas of the Northwest, the fast moving weather set to bring snow and freezing rain to the inland areas of the North Coast this afternoon, evening and into Friday.

The Inland areas including Kitimat, Stewart and Terrace have been under a Winter Storm Warning for most of the day today, with 15 cm of snow expected to arrive through tonight, with 20 centimetres anticipated in the Stewart area.

Conditions could become challenging overnight and on Friday when the snow is expected to change to freezing rain, the weather will moderate towards rain by Friday afternoon.
