Preparations complete, Port Edward is ready to celebrate the BIG 50!
Port Edward is the place to be this Friday and Saturday, as the District rolls out the welcome mat and celebrates the 50th anniversary of its incorporation.
The Two days of festivities will kick off with the 50th Anniversary Welcome reception at the North Pacific Cannery Historical Site. The evening which starts at 6 PM will feature food and entertainment with one of the region's top attractions providing for the backdrop to the celebrations.
Tickets must be pre-purchased for the Friday event and are available for ten dollars each, none will be available at the door, you can contact the District office at 250-628-3667 to find out how to secure your admission.
As part of the weekend celebrations, the District has arranged for a shuttle bus to be in operation from the Prince Rupert Civic Centre to bring participants into Port Edward from the city on both Friday and Saturday.

The schedule for Saturday makes for a very busy one and offers up an All-Day Family Event from 8 AM to 11 PM, with the District of Port Edward hosting a number of activities during the course of the fourteen hours.
Food, Music, Cultural Dancing, a range of fun activities for kids and Fireworks mark much of the line up for the Saturday festival.

The Fireworks Display bring the 50th Anniversary Day to an end late into the evening, with a start time of 11 PM.
To get everyone in a frame of mind to celebrate, the District has provided a short historical review tracing the development of the community since June 29th of 1966 when the District was incorporated by an Order in Council signed by the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
