The document that the Prince Rupert Port Authority releases each year to provide guidance for Masters of Seagoing vessels, shipping lines and those who relay nautical information is in the early days of a thirty day comment period.
The document is a valuable resource item for those aboard the many vessels that call on Port Facilities, providing guidance on local practices and regulations for the shipping industry that makes Prince Rupert one of their stops on the global supply chain.
The Port Information Guide is currently available for review in its draft form, with the PRPA seeking feedback from those who have an interest in the contents of the document.
Among some of the key amendments for 2023 include:
Section 4.3 – Immigration. With Global Port Holdings assuming the operation of Northland Cruise Terminal in 2023, PRPA will no longer be able to offer the dock at Northland to crews (from vessels at anchor) wishing to come ashore. All reference to Northland being made available to crews wishing to come ashore has been deleted.
Section 7.2 – Developments. Annual update to port developments to include DP World, Wolverine, and Vopak. Section 8.11 – Docking. As a result of the mooring analysis into the MSC ALTAIR incident of November 2022, addition of information under the sub-heading of Line Tending.
