Terrace claims first Baby for Northwest BC; Prince George Northern BC wide as stork makes multiple stops New Year's Day


There are four new Northern British Columbian's to take note of today, with Northern Health maternity staffers putting in some busy work for the first day of 2023.

In the Northwest, Mills Memorial Hospital has claimed the title of first born for the new year, with Northern Health announcing the safe arrival of baby Kim at midmorning today at the Terrace facility.

The announcement coming through a website listing for all the New Arrivals to date.

Baby Kim was born at 9:44 am at Mills Memorial Hospital, weighing 7 lb 3 oz. Congratulations to parents Bella and Chan, of Terrace. The new arrival is also welcomed to the world by siblings Stella and Christina.


Rounding out the list so far for northern communities are babies born in Dawson Creek and Fort. St. John.

North Coast and Haida Gwaii baby watchers continue on the watch, with no reports to share just yet.

Abbotsford is home to the first baby for 2023 in the province, and the first newborn British Columbian for the year is a girl. 


Miss Camayang weighed five pounds 10 ounces upon her arrival.
