Multiple reports of wolves in city could bring Conservation Officers to town today

Multiple sightings of wolves and a report of an attack
on a family dog have been warning of wolf activity
around the Golf Course are in recent days

Residents of Prince Rupert may see the Conservation Officer Service in town today, that after a recent spate of wolves sightings and reports of some attacks on family dogs in the community.

The sightings have gone back more than a few weeks, with much of the activity seemingly centred around the Golf Course area which borders on Wantage Road to south and Ninth Avenue West to the north.

Accounts from a range of Social media streams have charted some of the incidents with those involved having noted that they have contacted the Conservation Officer Service towards their concerns.  Some have noted of the proximity of Prince Rupert Middle School to the recent sightings and incident.

For its part the Conservation Officer Service has not made note of the current situation in Prince Rupert  through its own social media stream, but they do offer up advice for residents who have wildlife encounters on how to report to the Service.

They also have some background on how to prevent such encounters.

More notes related to the work of Emergency Responders in the northwest can be reviewed here.
