Arrest made following string of Prince Rupert thefts


The Prince Rupert RCMP have announced the arrest of a suspect when it comes to a number of recent suspicious person reports and thefts around the city.

Arrested by the Prince Rupert detachment was 23 year old Cameron Geoffrey White, that after the RCMP received multiple complaints regarding suspicious behaviour and thefts from a business during the first week of 2024.

"The RCMP was very aware of Cameron's activities throughout the first week of January calls made to the detachment as well as public outcry on social media did not go unheard. Multiple front line police officers combined their efforts to ensure that Cameron was held in custody." -- Media Relations Officer Constable Brody Hemrich 

As part of their information release, the RCMP note that due to Mr. White's significant history in property crime he was held to be seen before a judge and was remanded in custody for a subsequent court date.

White is facing charges for the following: 

Theft from mail; 
Theft under $5000

As noted in the information release, the arrest comes after some significant attention to the issue of break ins and suspicious behaviour around the city through social media.
