Prince Rupert's Community Cable Channel 10 is about to get a makeover, as CityWest prepares to shift the channel to the era of high definition.
The communications company which is owned by the City of Prince Rupert announced yesterday that starting December 10th community programming will be available on Channel 310 with the Prince Rupert Rampage set to be the subject of the first Live High Definition broadcast from the channel.
CityWest Community Channel Manager Devin Wall noted that CityWest was responding to community requests when it comes to local programming and that testing has been taking place over the last month.
“Our viewers have asked us for a while when we’re going HD, and we’re happy that the day is finally here ... We’ve been doing testing on the new channel for the last month, and it looks great.”
This Saturday's Rampage home game against the Smithers Steelheads will be in High Definition, with the Ron German the GM and President of the local CIHL squad quite happy to be part of the evolution of community television in Prince Rupert.
“We’re excited that we’re the first official broadcast in HD for CityWest’s community channel ... We’ve got a lot of great reaction for the live games that have aired on the channel this year, and we’re looking forward to playing more games in front of our fans who may not be able to make it to the arena.”
The channel will also be home to the annual Christmas Fireplace offering, the season setting background piece to house parties and Christmas morning gift opening will launch tomorrow on the channel.
