Undefeated at home, Rampage have a week to rest before first road trip of the year

The Arena at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre was the place to be this weekend
as the Prince Rupert Rampage rattled of wins number 2 and 3 of the season so far

Back to back games against some tough competition from the Cariboo didn't pose much of a problem for the hometown Prince Rupert Rampage over the weekend.

As the Rhinos found success both Friday and Saturday night in front of the faithful of the Jim, results which have the Rampage hosting a 3-0 record in these early days of the CIHL season.

Friday night brought the Quesnel Kangaroos to town, with the Roos making for a near perfect first period road game, jumping to quick lead in the first ten minutes of play and holding the Rhinos off the score sheet for the first twenty minutes.

Penalty trouble would finally catch up with the visitors in the second, with Kory Movold snaring the first marker and then a second for the home side in the first minutes of period number two.

The third period found the Rampage making the most of the power play once again, with Judd Repole providing the third goal of the night, giving the Rampage a bit of breathing room at 3-1 with time winding down on the clock.

Some ugly play in the waning moments resulted in a game misconduct for Quesnel after a dangerous head shot, with Tyrell Turgeon banished from the game after his hit on Cole Atchison.

With a final power play on the night, the Koltin Chasse finished off the Rampage scoring on the night, an assist from Kory Movold making for the final tally of his four points of the game, securing the second win of the season with a 4-1 result.

Kieran Sharpe gained the W for the Rhinos, turning aside all but one of the 25 shots that were directed his way on the night.

Saturday, Williams Lake made for the competition bringing a free wheeling offence into the Jim, dominating play through the opening frame but not on the score sheet.

The Rampage found success first with Graeme Lodge making for the ice breaker on the night, though it was matched by a Williams Lake goal by the time the period ended.

Jeremey Boot launched what would be a strong night on offence in the second period picking up the only goal of the middle frame sending the Rhinos to the dressing room with a 2-1 lead with twenty minutes to go.

The third period belonged to the hosts, with Judd Repole, Kory Movold and Boot once again all making the score sheet on the way to the 5-1 victory over the Stamps.

Defensively the Rampage managed to push back from the first period onslaught to keep the Stamps off the scoreboard for the remainder of the night, with Tomoki Yoshizawa getting his first test of the CIHL season, a hard night's work which saw him frustrate the Stamps snipers more than a few times.

With three games ticked off the schedule, the Rampage are showing some strong results with a thirteen goal scoring surge; while allowing only four goals in their own end of the rink.

The team has the Thanksgiving Weekend off, with their next action coming on Friday, October 18th when they make the trip to Tamitik Arena and a showdown with the Kitimat Ice Demons.

They head back to Rupert following that match up, with hosting duties set for Saturday night, the 19th as they welcome the Hazelton Bulldogs back to the North Coast, the Hazelton squad returned to the CIHL this season after a lengthy absence.

Rampage fans can avoid some of that CIHL withdrawal over the weekend, sometime this week the video reviews of the weekend action will make their way to the new YouTube portal hosted by Mike Sidhu.

The video work offers a chance to revisit the fast start to the 2019-20 season with some turkey sandwiches on the side.
