The Port of Prince Rupert is looking to redesign the Port Interpretive Centre With the Request for bids issued through the BC Bids website |
With new branding and an expanded vision, the Port of Prince Rupert is looking to enhance the experience found at it's Visitor Interpretive Centre, posting a Request for Proposals for the project to the BC Bid website.
The Interpretive Centre, which shares space with the Prince Rupert Visitor's Bureau in the Atlin Terminal at Cow Bay has become one of the more popular stops for visitors to town and residents alike, with a range of displays to tell the story of the Port's beginning, recent past and plans for the future.
As part of their synopsis of the proposed re-imagining for the Centre, the Port makes note of their goal towards the creation of the expanded vision for the centre.
The goal is to reinvigorate interest in the Port Interpretive Centre, better integrate the Visitor Centre and update the content while incorporating our new brand into the design.
This project will involve a reimagining of the space and how the displays interact and engage with our target audiences.
From the synopsis of the Bid Request from the BC Bid site the scope of the work ahead for the successful applicant includes:
A comprehensive redesign concept that aligns with the Port's identity, brand, values and goals
Creation of at least two 'marquee' displays and several modular displays that could be used at trades hows or PRPA events
When it comes to what the final concept will look like, the Port is looking for the following elements.
Ability to host and present to approximately 80 people
Ability to incorporate Destination BC's requirements for operating a registered Visitor Centre
Digital hardware and software functions that will be approved by the Port's IT department
Project content must be created in such a way that makes it easy to update or edit by the Port of Prince Rupert.
The deadline for the submission of proposals is December 9th, with the Selection date set for December 19th.
The project itself should be ready to get underway on January 6th of 2020, with completion of the work expected by April 1st, 2020
As part of the proposal bid process, interested applicants are expected to make at least one site visit prior to submitting their proposals, they can access more information on the Port's plans by contacting Natalie Allen, the Community Relations Coordinator for the Port of Prince Rupert at 250-627-2572.
