A 5.5 mg earthquake was recorded in SE Alaska today |
A moderate temblor has been recorded this afternoon in Southeast Alaska, with a 5.5 magnitude earthquake noted 100 miles Southwest of Haines, Alaska due west of the capital of Juneau.
The USGS notes that the event which was recorded at 1:52 Pacific Standard Time had a depth of 6 miles, the epicentre of the temblor was 641 kilometres to the North of Prince Rupert.
There is no indication that the event resulted in any damage in the Alaskan community.
There was no Tsunami danger expected from the afternoon seismic event.
