The big stage of the Lester Centre of the Arts beckons for music students in the city this weekend, with both the Ring Music System and SD 52 Band Concerts set for Saturday & Sunday in Prince Rupert |
As we head into the homestretch towards Christmas, the Lester Centre is becoming the centre stage for Christmas concerts and other events of the season and two this weekend will put the toes to tappin' as the talented youth of Prince Rupert take to the stage in two events.
The first comes Saturday night when the annual Ring Music System Jingle Bell Rock hits the stage, with the over 50 youth in the community join Ring Music director Ian Lihou in showcasing their musical skills as they raise money for the Salvation Army.
Past years have provided for some show stopping performances and highlight the dedication of the Ring Music Studio when it comes to not only developing the city's musicians but their dedication towards the community.
The popular event has become a holiday tradition in Prince Rupert with this years showcase set for a 7 PM start on Saturday night, admission is by donation, with all of the proceeds going to the Prince Rupert Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal.

Sunday afternoon, the musical notes will echo through the Lester once again, this time as the assembled music programs at Prince Rupert Middle School and the elementary schools of district will deliver the SD52 wall of sound as part of the annual School District 52 Band Christmas Concert.
Led by musical director Kristy Tillman, the afternoon of music will provide a glimpse at the progress of the students across the district as they tackle some of the selected musical pieces for the performance.
Show time for SD52 students is 2 PM Sunday at the Lester Centre, admission fo the Band Christmas Concert is by donation.
