Ruby Princess Arrival brings another Cruise Ship day to Prince Rupert, starts busy week of arrivals at Northland Terminal

The day started out as a sunny one for the visitors aboard the Ruby Princess, the cruise vessel puling into Northland Terminal just before 8AM this morning, launching what will be another busy day for the cruise tourism sector in the community.

The transit to the Terminal one assisted by a tug providing some extra manoeuvrability for the vessel as it came alongside the terminal just below Prince Rupert Mariner's Park.

As the vessel was making its finals push to the dock, Customs officials and cruise ambassadors were taking their places around the Terminal while, tour buses began to arrive to take the visitors to destinations around the community.

As we outlined last week, one of those destinations will be the Butze Rapids Trail, with the Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Society having started tours of that recreation area this summer.

The Ruby Princess will be berthed at Northland Terminal until 3 PM today.

Today's arrival kicks off a busy week for tourism, with the Seabourn Odyssey in town on Tuesday and the Roald Amundsen set to arrive on Friday, while significantly smaller than the Ruby Princess, those two vessels could bring 450 and 539 passengers ashore respectively
