The monthly report from City of Prince Rupert Fire Chief Jeff Beckworth is up for review of Council and the public, the document part of tonight's City Council session Consent Agenda Report.
The two page update for Council noting of a decline in incident calls this March compared to recent years.
This March the PRFD responded to 89 incidents compared to 138 in 2022 and 135 in 2021. The report does not expand on why there is a significant reduction from year to year.
Of their work on fire incidents a pair of property related fires resulted in close to 6,000 dollars in property loss, with the Fire Chief also noting of a number of smaller, set fires in wooded areas that were extinguished by the Department.
The report also notes of some of their Fire Prevention and Public Education work, along with a nod to the return of the Annual Guns N Hoses hockey matchup, the PRFD graciously not making note of the final score, despite their success over the Mounties on the ice.
The report wraps up with a look at the volume of and distribution of the 1,172 calls for assistance that came into the 911 Dispatch office at the Fire hall.
