The makings of a Container marketplace on the waterfront in motion ...

The first units of the Container Marketplace have been put in place
on the Promenade near the Atlin Terminal

The planning for the Container marketplace is nearing the finish line and some of the first elements of the new showpiece for the Promenade between the Cruise Terminal and Atlin Terminal is beginning to take shape.

Workers today were moving into place a few of the containers that will make for the new venture for the tourism season ahead, with more to join them as the days move forward.

As we outlined in March, Tourism Prince Rupert which is organizing the community showcase area has been accepting vendor applications through the last few weeks.

You can learn more about that process here.

Last week, Tourism Prince Rupert issued a call for artists towards development of some artwork for the Container Marketplace location.

More on that initiative can be found here.

The Market will open to the public on Wednesday May 3rd.

Follow the Tourism Prince Rupert social media stream for updates as we get closer to Opening day in May.

More notes on Tourism in the region can be explored here.
